Through It
About Through It

Sometimes the person who understands most is someone who's lived it.

Through It is a peer-support app designed to connect adults with people who have been through similar experiences — so conversations can begin with understanding rather than explanation.

What is Through It?

Going through something difficult can feel isolating, even when people around you want to help. Through It is built around a simple idea: shared experience can make it easier to feel understood.

Instead of placing everyone into one general community, Through It helps you find people based on the specific experience you want support with. You can then connect privately, one-to-one.

How it works

1. Add your experienceTell Through It what you've been through or are currently going through.
2. Find relevant peopleDiscover people whose lived experience and support preferences are relevant to yours.
3. ConnectSend or receive a connection request. Both people choose whether they want to talk.
4. Talk one-to-oneOnce connected, have a private peer-to-peer conversation with someone who can relate.

Support built around the experience

Different situations call for different kinds of support. Someone may want a person who simply understands, while someone else may be looking for perspective, advice or practical guidance. Through It is designed to make those differences part of the matching experience.

Relationships & breakups

Talk with someone who understands the process of losing, leaving or rebuilding after a relationship.

Loss & grief

Connect through the shared understanding that can come from experiencing loss.

Addiction & recovery

Find peer understanding from people with relevant lived experience.

Other difficult experiences

Through It is designed to support a wider range of experiences as the community grows.

You stay in control

You choose which experiences you add and what you share with other people. Your account email is not intended to appear on your public peer profile. You can disconnect from a conversation, block another user or report concerning behaviour when necessary.

For more information about these tools and urgent support resources, visit the Support & Safety page.

Peer support, not therapy

Through It is not a therapy, counselling, medical or emergency service. The people you meet are other users sharing lived experience, not professional counsellors or therapists unless explicitly stated otherwise. Professional and emergency support should be used whenever it is needed.

You don't have to explain it to someone who's already been through it.

Whatever you're going through, you don't have to go through it alone.

Through It is being built to make finding someone who understands simpler.
